According to the organizers, this was an impressive result of the first stages of the campaign.
“This is a large-scale action of solidarity, which today unites thousands of caring hearts. We are sincerely grateful to everyone who joins the collection, who spreads information, who supports us with words and deeds. It is especially valuable that our initiative unites not only people, but also society as a whole,” the National Congress of Ukrainians of Moldova said.
The collection of money continues. “Any help, even the smallest, can warm people’s lives. Generators become a vital resource that helps people survive, continue to work, get treatment, educate their children and just live,” the organizers say.
Amid winter frosts and massive Russian attacks on the energy infrastructure, Ukraine is experiencing an acute crisis situation with electricity and heat supply. Energy facilities across the country have been damaged, and emergency regime has been introduced in a number of regions. Under these conditions, generators are becoming a critical source of energy for homes, hospitals, schools and shelters.
Last week, the Moldovan government decided to provide humanitarian aid to Ukraine, which includes energy equipment (generators, transformers, cables), medical devices, special equipment, food and essential goods. The delivery will be ensured by the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations of the Moldovan Interior Ministry.
Earlier, the European Commission announced that it would provide Moldova with 8m euros to support Ukrainian refugees.
