Moldovan President Maia Sandu, who is on a visit to Poland, said at a joint press conference with Polish President Karol Nawrocki that the agreement will include closer activities in the field of resilience, countering hybrid threats and critical infrastructure protection.
The president emphasized that security and resilience remain the foundation for all other areas of cooperation.
“Our economic ties are growing. However, the potential has not yet been fully realized. Moldova seeks to expand trade with Poland and attract more Polish investments – in agriculture and food processing, industry, infrastructure, energy, construction, IT and the digital economy. Polish companies already operating in Moldova show what this partnership has to offer. We also encourage other Polish entrepreneurs to consider Moldova as a safe place to invest and a platform to reach out to the whole region,” Maia Sandu said.
She expressed her desire to expand the ties between the citizens of the two countries: “Connectivity supports these ambitions. Expanded air connections and strengthened cooperation in transportation and logistics bring our economies and citizens closer together. We want to further deepen these efforts”.
The head of state also called for solidarity: “In times like these, solidarity is not just a slogan. It is a test of who we really are. Therefore, Moldova and Poland are firmly united in supporting Ukraine. Ukraine is defending not only its freedom, but also the security of the entire European continent. Ukraine’s resistance keeps Russia away from our borders and from yours,” Sandu said.
She also noted Poland’s support for Ukraine – political, military and moral: “By helping Ukraine resist aggression, Poland also contributes to the defense of Moldova and to the defense of Europe’s future.”
