According to The Guardian, what happened overnight in Venezuela will immediately cause concern for governments such as Iran and Denmark, for which U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed enthusiasm for drastic measures.
According to The Guardian, U.S. officials have stated their intention to gain control of Greenland by any means necessary, and in December, Denmark’s military intelligence service labeled the U.S. a security threat. Last month, Trump appointed Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry as his special envoy for Greenland to promote American interests. (Note that Greenland is a former Danish colony, but it remains part of the kingdom and under Copenhagen’s control.)
In response, Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lekke Rasmussen said that Copenhagen has no intention of bowing to the American demand to hand over Greenland.
In addition, during a press conference after the US military operation in Venezuela, Trump threatened Colombia and Cuba. He said Colombian President Gustavo Petro “should watch his ass” and accused him of producing cocaine. Regarding Cuba, Trump said the country is in a deplorable state and that the U.S. intends to help its people.
