This was stated by Education and Research Minister Dan Perciun during a press conference. He recalled that the financing of the Karate-do Federation WKF Moldova was frozen after an audit carried out by the ministry.
Perciun reported about an attempt to hold a meeting with all the members of the federation, but it was unsuccessful. The minister emphasized that their opinion will determine whether the leadership will be changed or not.
Earlier, the Ministry of Education and Research conducted an audit in the Karate-do Federation, which revealed financial irregularities. In particular, it was found out that part of the funds allocated by the government in 2023-2024 was directed to non-targeted expenditures, and some items of expenditure were specified and paid twice – from public funds and other sources of funding. The federation’s management is also accused of falsifying signatures in official documents. The amount of violations may exceed 1.5 million lei.
Earlier, WKF Moldova members asked law-enforcement bodies to prosecute the leadership, including the federation’s president Oleg Abalin. The ministry transferred the case materials to the Prosecutor General’s Office. The progress of the investigation is not reported.
