These payments will become a kind of “lifeline” for livestock producers in the near future. Activation of consumer demand for food on the eve of Catholic Christmas and New Year is least relevant to the segment of dairy products. Sales of some of them (brynza) will traditionally start to increase closer to Orthodox Christmas.
In the period from August 15 to September 26, dairy farmers submitted 223 applications for financial support. After checks, 221 applications were accepted and two were rejected. The majority of applications (195) related to cow’s milk delivered to dairies. Nine applications were for subsidies for sheep milk and ten for goat milk. In seven cases, farmers requested funding based on shipments of two types of raw materials – sheep and goat milk.
In the last phase of “direct payments” this year, AIPA approved payments totaling 103.27 million lei, which will be sent directly to farmers for the products produced. The payments (to the price) will cover more than 33 thousand tons of cow milk, 338 tons of sheep milk and almost 487 tons of goat milk
The data for this subsidization phase (six months of 2025) confirm the positive dynamics of the dairy sector in Moldova. Thus, compared to the first half of 2024, when industrial farms produced 27.2 thousand tons of cow’s milk, in the first half of 2025 the production reached 33 thousand tons (+21%).
