First tender for energy storage

This is the first tender in Moldova to include an energy storage component. Potential investors can request clarifications until February 1, 2026, and proposals will be accepted from February 16 to March 31. An investor conference will also be organized on 29 January 2026 to discuss the tender documents and the tender procedure.

The winning bids will be those with the lowest price below the maximum of 1.44 lei (0.073 euros), whose total capacity will not exceed 170 MW. The power plants will be built under a fixed price/variable premium scheme.

The tenders are expected to increase the share of renewable energy by 5.8%, contributing to the national target of 30% renewable energy by 2030. Together with the first 165 MW tender, wind power will cover approximately 11.4% of this target.

The Ministry of Energy estimates that the new investment will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by more than 1.4 million tons of CO₂, equivalent to the annual emissions of about 310,000 cars.
