Individuals will be able to purchase confiscated goods

According to the Cabinet of Ministers’ resolution, individuals are included in the category of entities that can purchase goods on the basis of sales contracts, which expands the range of potential buyers.

In addition, clear ways of valuing and trading goods through direct sales, commission trading and discount auctions are established, providing a uniform and predictable procedural framework.

The regulation establishes clear timelines for the revaluation of goods and the application of discounted prices. It is proposed that prices be revalued every 30 working days with a 20% discount, a mechanism that has so far only been possible in the case of commission trading.

If the goods cannot be sold within 150 working days, they will be valued through a discount auction with the possibility of a price reduction of up to 50% of the last revalued price.

At the same time, the procedure for declaring assets without an owner is simplified: recourse to the court will be required only for assets subject to registration in the advertising register, and for the rest of the assets they will be considered missing after the expiration of a 6-month period from the date of registration.

These changes are aimed at creating a modern and efficient legal framework that will accelerate the process of increasing the value of assets owned by the state, reduce administrative costs and ensure transparent management in accordance with current legislation.

Annually, the STS sells confiscated goods worth more than 25 million lei.
