The importance of these figures is demonstrated by the fact that at the end of 2022, the deficit exceeded 300 million lei, which is equivalent to about 50% of the budget. These data are presented by the capital’s deputy mayor, Irina Gutnic, based on the report on the activity of Apa-Canal Chișinău JSC for the period 2022-2025. She noted that the financial situation of the company was stabilized thanks to the effective cooperation between the company’s administration and the Chisinau City Hall.

During this period, the water supply and sewerage networks of Dimo, Miron Costin, Nicolae Costin, Munchesti streets were rehabilitated. The sewerage networks in Aerodromului and Grenoble streets were modernized. A new drinking water tank with a capacity of 10,000 cubic meters was installed. Construction of the Chisinau-Straseni-Celarasi main water pipeline started (project cost 22 million euros).

Thanks to the GIZ project (Germany), 575 smart meters were installed in the Botanica sector, radio modules were installed in houses with limited access, and meters with remote disconnection were installed in a number of houses to prevent losses. In total, more than 6,000 smart meters are managed by the company.

The company managed to carry out a significant modernization of wastewater treatment facilities. In particular, new aeration basins and diffuser system were built, modern turbo blowers were put into operation. Three primary and one secondary decanters were reconstructed, and a new iron chloride dosing station was launched. An international tender for the completion of the reconstruction is due by the end of 2025.

Despite a significant increase in energy prices, large investments have been made in the water and sewerage infrastructure of the city, said the Deputy Mayor.
