According to previous Prime Minister Dorin Recean’s income declaration, his salary for 2024 amounted to 243,349 lei, or 20,279 lei per month, or 1,039.7 euros at the current exchange rate. Additionally, he received over 162,000 lei for business trips. Most likely, the new prime minister’s income will be about the same.
Despite the high status and responsibility, the salary of the prime minister in Moldova is rather modest against the background of his colleagues from neighboring countries. Thus, in Romania, according to the data for 2025, the head of the Cabinet of Ministers is entitled to 26,450 Romanian lei per month (about 5,200 euros), and in Italy – about 9,500 euros per month.
The salary of Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmygal in 2024 amounted to 1,160,327 hryvnyas (23934.96 euros or 2,000 euros per month).
