Located on the industrial site of the former RAFO refinery in Onesti, the plant with a capacity of up to 18 tons per hour is fully automated. It is operated by Biturom, a Romanian company specializing in bitumen processing and marketing and part of the Grampet Group.
The Onesti melting and storage terminal will include four stations for the production of 50/70 bitumen and polymerized bitumen with an annual capacity of up to 400,000 tons, which will meet about 60% of Romania’s annual demand for this construction material. The first plant has already been put into serial production, and equipment for the remaining three stations has already been purchased from one of the world leaders in bitumen processing technology.
The company has started sales on the Romanian and Moldovan markets.
Grampet, which operates in Bulgaria, Hungary, Croatia, Moldova, Germany, Serbia, Greece, Slovenia and Macedonia, is the largest private railroad group and logistics operator in Central and South-Eastern Europe.
The company operates 450 locomotives, 20,000 wagons and transports more than 15 million tons of freight per year.
It owns the largest rail freight operator Grup Feroviar Român, 4 plants in Romania and Hungary where it builds, repairs and modernizes railway wagons, and 5 logistics terminals located on the borders with Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova and north of Bucharest.
