Representatives of the Ukrainian travel aggregator tickets.ua explain that this is mainly due to the rapid development of the Chisinau airport. Both popular low-cost carriers like Wizz Air and air giants like Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa fly from there to numerous corners of Europe and the world.
In general, buses have become a priority transportation for Ukrainians. After all, in conditions of suspension of air services and shortage of tickets for trains, it is almost the only option to get abroad.
This summer the most popular bus destination for Ukrainians was Poland. It is followed by Moldova. The third and fourth places are occupied by the Czech Republic and Slovakia, which have shown a stable interest on the part of Ukrainians. However, compared to last year’s summer, only a slight increase in requests of +5% and +3% respectively is noticeable.
Germany, although it remained in the top five, was of much less interest to Ukrainians compared to 2024 – 14% fewer requests. “This may be due to economic changes in the country or a shift in the focus of travelers to other countries”, – commented tickets.ua.
