According to the management of the Association of Berry Producers Pomușoarele Moldovei, the pessimistic spring estimates, which predicted that the April frosts would kill about 60-80% of the berry crop of almost all types of berries, did not come true. Nevertheless, the reduction of berry production in the country, which experts in this sector have estimated at 5-15% annually over the past few years, seems to have accelerated significantly this year.
For reference: according to statistical data, in 2024, berry production in Moldova was about 17 thousand tons, in 2023-24 – in the range of 20-21 thousand tons. To the greatest extent, the reduction in berry production was due to a decrease in strawberry and raspberry harvests.
The highest price growth is noted by the operators of the berry market of Moldova in the market segment of raspberries, the lowest – blueberries.
