The projects will be implemented between 2025 and 2027 with support from the National Fund for Regional and Local Development (FNDRL).
These 87 projects cover four strategic areas: water supply and sanitation – 47; tourism – 19; urban regeneration – 15; and business infrastructure – 6 projects.
The projects will be implemented in all five development regions of Moldova, including Chisinau and the autonomous territorial unit Gagauzia. The government emphasizes that when selecting localities for the implementation of projects, the political connotation of the selection was completely excluded.
Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Bolia said: “These 87 projects will benefit not only 87 localities. With a regional effect, they will bring visible improvements in dozens of communities and contribute to improving the quality of life of thousands of citizens”.
Viorel Furdui, Executive Director of the Congress of Local Communities (CALM), welcomed the government’s decision, “CALM has been advocating for depoliticizing the distribution of public finances for years. We are delighted that this approach is beginning to take shape. It is vital that all localities, regardless of the political climate, benefit from investments that bring them closer to European standards.”
Project examples:
- North: Reconstruction of the rowing canal in Balti, expansion of the sewage network in Soroca, restoration of the Pommer Mansion in Caula.
- Center: Wastewater treatment plant in Anenii Noi, tourism development in Orheul Vechi, modernization of apartment building yards in Calarasi.
- South: Reconstruction of the House of Culture in Cimislia, creation of a tourist center in Valeni, expansion of sewage networks in Causeni.
- ATU Gagauzia: Warehouse of packaging materials in Comrat, water supply in Vulcanesti, revitalization of the urban environment in Ceadir-Lunga.
- Chisinau: Sewerage in Cruzesti, sports hall with swimming pool in Budesti, modernized roads in Truseni and Bechoi.
The projects will be included in the Unified Program Document, followed by the signing of financing contracts and the start of works.
