
The Ministry of Education emphasized that these funds “are significant” and were allocated for the development of sports infrastructure. A total of 133 sports halls and playgrounds were renovated and equipped in the country.
The total amount of scholarships for outstanding athletes increased four times: from 8 million lei in 2021 to 33 million lei in 2024. More than 47 million lei is planned for 2025. These efforts are directly reflected in the results achieved by our representatives at the international level.
Thus, between 2021 and 2025, Moldovan athletes won 1,957 medals at the European and world championships in all age categories, as well as at the Olympic and Paralympic Games. While in 2020, prizes worth 2.7 million lei were awarded to only 66 athletes and 57 coaches, in 2024, this support will reach almost 31 million lei, distributed among 488 athletes and 171 coaches.
In addition, athletes receive other support measures: new uniforms and equipment for competitions, food supplements and vitamins, medical and rehabilitation personnel.
Also, subsidies to sports federations have increased over the last four years – from 42 million lei to 87 million lei.
