According to the leadership of the National Association of Beekeepers of Moldova ANARM, the resource of marketable honey harvest-2025 will be even lower – about 2-2.5 thousand tons. The reasons are numerous, but basically boil down to one – the consequences of unfavorable weather conditions: little pollen, little nectar, little honey.
According to Ion Maxim, Executive Director of ANARM, if in normal years beekeepers pump out an average of 25 kg of flower (sunflower) honey from one hive, this year in the southern and central zones of the country this indicator has dropped to the level of 5-12 kg. In the north of Moldova the situation is better. To what extent – it is difficult to judge yet, honey harvest from sunflower in the northern parts of the country will last one or two more weeks. The share of flower honey in the structure of production of this product in the country, depending on the seasonal conditions, is 70-90%.
The difficult situation in the industry was analyzed during the recent meeting of the advisory council on beekeeping under the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry of MAIA. Assistance to beekeepers is promised, but when and in what form is not clear yet.
