The contest will last until May 25, 2025. The winner will receive the Honorary Diploma of Wine of Moldova and a cash prize of 20 thousand lei.

“Moldovan sparkling wine deserves to have its own identity, a name, a symbol that encompasses everything that means authenticity, freshness, refinement and sparkling character,” says Stefan Iamandi, director of the National Bureau of Grapes and Wine. – We are looking for a name that will represent our terroir, reflect its character and become an international symbol, that is why we are opening a national contest for the best name for a sparkling wine with an appellation of origin from Moldova”.

Also, the head of the NBVIW said that the decade of production of wines with IGP in Moldova is an important moment in the history of the sector. At the European Union level, the protected geographical indication is a standard, an indicator of authenticity and region of origin. At the national level, the IGP has become the most important pillar for the promotion of Moldovan wine on international markets, guaranteeing its authenticity.

Agriculture and Food Minister Ludmila Catlabuga also emphasized the importance of the jubilee of wines with IGP. According to her, the wine has become the most representative ambassador of Moldova abroad. Moldovan wine is part of our national identity and thanks to the work of winemakers united under the aegis of the national brand, our country is recognized as a producer of high quality wines.

The XXIII “Vernisajul Vinului” was the launching pad for 30 new wines with IGP, which could be tasted, besides the already known wines from 43 producers. The event was attended by 1500 guests.

Special attention at the celebration was paid to the contribution to the development of protected geographical indications of wine products in Moldova. Thus, awards were given for achievements in the production of wines with IGP to winemakers who participate in the development and promotion of quality Moldovan wines.
