This was announced by the Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Vladimir Bolya, noting that the sectoral agency through the State Administration of Roads manages about 6000 km of roads, of which about 50% are in poor condition and require large investments.
Rehabilitation requires time and very large financial resources, given that after 2022, due to the general rise in prices, the cost of construction has increased significantly. Vladimir Bolia said that Moldova recently signed a new financing agreement with the EBRD and has very good relations with the European Investment Bank.
“We are talking about an investment of 100 million euros for the reconstruction of national roads. The exact sections are still to be agreed with the partners, but we assume that there will be 6 sections of roads renovated according to European standards. All these measures are meant for Moldovan citizens, in order to facilitate their economic activity and make the country more attractive for foreign and local investors,” he said.
Another important project he mentioned was the bridge to Ungheni, the construction of which started in April. It will connect Moldova with the European highway in Romania and will shorten the travel time.
