The photovoltaic sector leads with 442.41 MW (67% of the total). It is followed by wind power with 190.98 MW (29%), hydropower with 16.75 MW (3%) and biogas plants with 7.01 MW (1%).
At the same time, the number of investors choosing to operate in the free market is increasing (333.50 MW from installations selling energy directly), indicating the economic viability of the sector.
In addition, the Competitive Commission for Large Renewable Energy Producer designation under the Ministry of Energy will hold a new tender on April 30 for a 165 MW RES installation. Of this, 60 MW are photovoltaic parks and 105 MW are wind installations. It has received 34 bids for photovoltaic power plants with a total capacity of 236.61 MW and eight bids for wind farms with a total capacity of 207.5 MW. All bidders are local companies, two of which have foreign founders.
These data confirm Moldova’s commitment to achieve a share of renewable energy sources in gross final energy consumption of at least 27% by 2030, which is in line with European policies and international climate targets.
