
Thus, during the last week a survey of more than a hundred of Moldova Fruct member gardeners was conducted. The results of the survey were used to calculate the amount of production costs and lost profits due to the expected loss of a significant part of fruit crops. The level of losses ranges from 20-30% (seed crops) to 50-90% (stone crops) of the fruit crop.
In addition, in order to save fruit trees from prolonged frosts, many growers had to spend about 10-15 thousand lei/ha on additional agro-technological measures.
In this force majeure situation, the farmers asked the authorities, at least, to pay the state’s share in the insurance premiums for 2025, as stipulated by the legislation on subsidized insurance of agricultural risks. And also to liquidate debts on investment subsidies for 2023-24.
