For companies whose executives personally fulfill responsibilities related to disease risk prevention and worker protection, occupational health and safety requirements will be simplified.

To this end, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection has begun drafting amendments to the current government regulation. Proposals may be submitted to the ministry by August 14, 2026, at sofia.carp(at)social.gov.md.

Currently, the Law on Occupational Health and Safety stipulates that at enterprises whose activities do not involve risks of accidents or occupational diseases, the manager may assume such responsibilities provided they have completed the appropriate training. According to the law, the manager must complete at least 40 hours of training.

The Ministry proposes to review the duration and organization of the training so that the requirements take into account the size of the enterprise and the level of occupational risks.

At the same time, the Ministry is required to bring the national regulatory framework into compliance with Council Directive 89/391/EEC. In accordance with its provisions, in cases where an employer personally performs functions related to the prevention of occupational risks and the protection of workers’ health, the nature of the business and the size of the enterprise must be taken into account.
