In 2025, the value of industrial output sold totaled 88.4 billion lei, of which 60.6 billion lei (68.6%) was sold on the domestic market and 27.7 billion lei (31.4%) on the foreign market.

In terms of the distribution of industrial sector sales, the country continues to show a consistent trend of the domestic market outweighing exports:

2024:

67.1% of production (55.4 billion lei) went to the domestic market, while 32.9% (27.2 billion lei) was exported.

2022:

64.5% was supplied to the domestic market, and 35.5% to foreign markets.

2021:

The domestic market accounted for 66%, and foreign markets for 34%.

The main drivers of the industrial sector remain manufacturing and mining, as well as the energy sector (production and supply of electricity, gas, and heat).

Manufacturing accounts for the largest share of total industrial output (82.4%), followed by the production and supply of electricity and heat, gas, hot water, and air conditioning systems (13.2%), water supply, sewerage, and waste management (2.7%), and the extractive industry (1.7%).

In value terms, the volume of all industrial output produced last year exceeded the value of sales. Statistics estimate it at 95 billion lei (at current prices) (+5.4% in comparable terms), compared to the value of sales (88.4 billion lei).
