As a reminder, the Classification of Occupations of the Republic of Moldova is a regulatory document intended for use by employers when entering into contracts with employees. It includes a list of legally recognized professions and positions, with descriptions of their pay-grade and qualification characteristics, functions, duties, and tasks, as well as requirements for employee professional training.
The documents outline labor market prospects as well as trends in these fields. Practitioners were extensively involved in the development of these regulatory documents.
The development of professional employment standards began in Moldova in 2008. This work was primarily carried out by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection and the Ministry of Education and Research. The process was then interrupted but resumed in 2020 in accordance with the approved Methodology for the Development of Occupational Standards.
The newly recognized professions reflect labor market trends and changes in the structure of the Moldovan economy, particularly the growth of medical tourism. They will facilitate employers’ operations within the framework of the law.
