The rapporteurs plan to meet with the drafters of the code, members of the Legal Affairs Committee, the Appointments and Immunities Committee, and the European Integration Committee, as well as with representatives of the parliamentary majority and the opposition.

The agenda also includes meetings with representatives of the Ministry of Justice, the Constitutional Court, the Bureau for European Integration, the Supreme Council of Magistrates, the Supreme Council of Prosecutors, and the Ombudsman’s Office.

According to a parliamentary source, the Venice Commission rapporteurs “will discuss the situation with representatives of civil society, professional associations, and international partners.” No specific details have been provided regarding the topics to be discussed.

The draft Code on the Organization and Functioning of Parliament was adopted in its first reading in May. According to an official assessment, the document “more clearly regulates the main functions of Parliament and the role of this institution in the process of European integration.”

The draft also describes the organization of the activities of the Standing Bureau, the standing committees, and the work of Parliament during plenary sessions.
