This was reported by the press service of the presidential administration. According to the source, the discussions focused on current political events, Moldova’s European agenda, and the priorities for the republic’s cooperation with its foreign partners.
The head of state and the diplomats discussed the next stages of the country’s EU accession negotiations. The president emphasized that the authorities are continuing reforms, and that bringing domestic legislation and standards into line with European ones remains their key priority.
In this context, Maia Sandu welcomed the decision by EU member states to open accession negotiations on Cluster 6— “External Relations”—under which Moldova will fully align its foreign, defense, and trade policies with those of the European Union.
The president reaffirmed that Moldova remains committed to the idea of joining the EU on the basis of merit and aims to achieve EU membership by the end of this decade.
As Logos Press previously reported, the EU’s common position, which is necessary for the final opening of the sixth negotiation cluster, is expected to be approved today, July 13. Its official opening is scheduled to take place tomorrow at the Intergovernmental Conference.
