Vlad Batrincha, Deputy Speaker of Parliament and PSRM lawmaker, questioned the effectiveness of the current management, pointing to a sharp drop in the company’s profits.
“In 2021, the glass factory generated a net profit of 60 million lei after paying salaries and dividends to the national public budget. In the four years since you appointed the new director, profits have fallen to 10 million lei—a sixfold decrease. This is not how business is done. Today, we are being asked to privatize this enterprise, which accounts for one-third of the domestic market, operates in both domestic and foreign markets, and is essential to the country. We believe that this enterprise can help the national public budget reduce its deficit and provide citizens of the Republic of Moldova with jobs right here at home. “We demand that Mr. Kozuhar be heard so that he can present objective and accurate information about the future of this enterprise,” Batryncha stated during a plenary session of the legislature.
The initiative was not supported by the PAS parliamentary majority.
As a reminder, the Public Property Agency announced the launch of an investment tender for the privatization of the state-owned enterprise “Chisinau Glass Factory” as a single property complex.
The starting price is 773 million lei. Under the terms of the tender, the future investor will be required to invest at least 20.5 million euros (415 million lei) over a period of 3 years.
According to data from public sources, in 2024, the Chisinau Glass Factory reported sales revenue of 442.5 million lei and gross profit of 10 million lei. At that time, the company employed 350 people, and its authorized capital exceeded 403.5 million lei. Compared to 2023, the company’s revenue and profit declined; however, the plant maintained a positive balance sheet and fully met its obligations to the state budget. Net assets reached 480.3 million lei, and the company transferred more than 6 million lei to the budget.
