
The Monitoring Committee of the Interreg NEXT program for the Black Sea Basin approved the funding at its third meeting held on April 9-10, 2025 in Thessaloniki, Greece.
The projects will involve central and local public authorities together with non-governmental organizations.
The decision was taken after evaluating the applications submitted under the second call for project proposals. The Committee approved 52 initiatives – 28 standard and 24 small projects – allocating a total of €46.6 million of European funding for Interreg projects in all participating countries.
Interreg NEXT promotes cooperation between EU Member States and non-EU partner countries, contributing to sustainable resource management and further deepening transboundary cooperation in the Black Sea basin in a transnational configuration.
The program focuses on addressing environmental challenges, in particular climate change and biodiversity protection, as well as promoting good governance, research and innovative solutions. It provides an inclusive platform for regional stakeholders to harmonize their efforts to achieve common goals, contributing to the stability, sustainability and prosperity of the region.
The program is being implemented over the period 2021-2027. It involves Moldova, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Greece, Romania, Turkey and Ukraine. It has a total budget of €72,275,137, of which 90% (€65,047,623) is paid by the EU and the remaining 10% by the participating countries.
