HelloSafe uses 35 criteria to assess the safety of travel around the world, which are divided into five categories: natural disasters, violence in society, involvement in internal or external armed conflicts, health infrastructure and militarization of the country. Based on the sum of these criteria, the countries that score the lowest on a 100-point scale are considered the safest for travelers.
According to the statistics, Sudan became the most unreliable state for tourists – its security index amounted to 82.32 points. The second place was taken by South Sudan – 79.21, the third position was given to Afghanistan – 78.42. According to experts, these countries are most likely to experience acts of violence and are more prone to internal conflicts than others.
Among European countries, Russia has the highest index – 75.65. In Ukraine, according to HelloSafe, tourists can feel much more comfortable – the safety coefficient is 48.42. This is not much more than in Greece, which has 36.56, or France – 36 even.
Against their background, Moldova with an index of 28.58 is perceived as a “safe haven”. Our neighbors in the list, which are lower in the ranking, are Great Britain (30,59), Spain (34,20) and Italy (34,74). Our country is better off with safety for tourists in Belgium (28.31), Romania (27.47) and Bulgaria (26.39).
The safest European country is recognized Iceland with an index of 18.23. Canada itself has an index of 40.03 and the USA has an index of 59.47.
