According to Report and TRT, Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Delcy Rodriguez discussed bilateral relations as well as global agenda issues.
It is noted that Turkey once again expressed its support for the friendly people of the Bolivarian Republic.
The sides agreed to further develop cooperation in a number of areas, primarily in trade, energy and mining. They also discussed steps to achieve the target of $3 billion trade turnover.
Report recalls that Delcy Rodriguez, who previously served as Vice President of Venezuela, took the oath of office as interim head of state on January 5.
U.S. leader Donald Trump said on January 3 that the U.S. had successfully launched a large-scale strike against Venezuela. He noted that the President of the Bolivarian Republic Nicolas Maduro and his wife Celia Flores were captured and taken out of the territory of the state.
Two days later, on January 5, the Venezuelan leader and his wife appeared in a New York court for arraignment. In court, he pleaded not guilty and added that he was still president of his country. The U.S. court agreed to schedule a visit by Venezuelan consular officials.
The second hearing in the case of Maduro and his wife was held on March 26, 2026, in New York federal court presided over by Judge Alvin Hellerstein.
