This is stated in the press release of Ukrenergo.

The issues of energy infrastructure development were discussed during a meeting between Ukrenergo’s management and Moldovan Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Ukraine Viktor Chirila.

The talks centered on preparations for the next autumn-winter period, strengthening the stability of energy systems and further integration of the electricity markets of Ukraine and Moldova into the European energy space.

“Now for Ukrenergo and our Moldovan colleagues the issue of preparation for the next winter is very relevant. It is also important for us to increase the technical capacity of our interstate connections, which requires the construction of new power transmission lines. We have absolutely clear projects, the implementation of which will strengthen interstate connections between Ukraine and Moldova, and in the future – with Romania. This will also strengthen our overall sustainability and expand opportunities for balancing energy systems in the region,” the chairman of Ukrenerho’s board of directors, Vitaliy Zaichenko, said.

For his part, Moldovan Ambassador to Ukraine Victor Chirila expressed gratitude for the prompt response of the Ukrainian side during emergencies and emphasized the importance of continuing bilateral cooperation in the energy sector, especially given the interconnection of the two countries’ energy systems.

The energy systems of Ukraine and Moldova were synchronized with the network of continental Europe (ENTSO-E) on March 16, 2022. Now the pressing issue for NEC Ukrenergo and SE Moldelectrica is also integration into the common European electricity market. This requires both legislative changes and implementation of technical solutions.

The parties also discussed the conclusion of agreements on the provision of emergency assistance in case of excessive electricity in the energy systems, which will have a positive impact on the quality of their balancing in Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova.

In addition, during the meeting between Vitaliy Zaichenko and Victor Chirila, the issue of regulating the maintenance of power transmission lines crossing the Ukrainian-Moldovan border was discussed.
