
In her opening speech, Secretary General Lidia Ababii said that the ministry will ensure an efficient transposition of the EU VAT Directive, as it is an important step in the process of modernizing the domestic tax system and supporting Moldova’s European path.
At the same time, she emphasized the need to improve the qualification of the officials involved in the elaboration and implementation of the tax policy.
The seminar is organized within the EU-funded project “Moldova is Europe. Supporting EU integration”. About 50 specialists from the Finance Ministry, the State Tax Service and the Customs Service are taking part in it.
The training sessions are conducted by the project’s leading expert Adriana Nutsu, who provides the participants with methodological recommendations and practical advice on how to transfer the mentioned directive to Moldovan soil.
The event is aimed at strengthening methodological and technical capacities in the process of harmonization of the national legislation with the European one. This process will increase the predictability of the tax system and facilitate cross-border trade.
The participants of the seminar analyze practical aspects of the application of the EU VAT Directive, in accordance with local economic realities. It also deals with the best practices applied in the EU countries.
