Lolita Cherchel, AI singer.
The phenomenon of artificial intelligence is increasingly penetrating the Romanian music industry. Lolita Cerchel, a digital character created entirely with AI, went viral in just a few weeks, gaining millions of views, adevarul.ro writes.
Her creator, known as Tom, spoke to CNN’s Antena 3 about the inspiration behind his project and the impact of artificial intelligence on music.
The creator of “Lolita” prefers anonymity
Tom is a Bacau-based visual designer with years of video editing experience who prefers to remain in the shadows so that the focus can be on the character he created, Lolita Cherchel.
He admits that the idea for “Lolita” came from a desire to convey emotion through his own song lyrics, and AI provided him with the necessary tools to bring that vision to reality.
“I tried to make it as realistic as possible. The inspiration came from an 80-year-old collection of poems by a Romanian author who used colloquial, slum language. I liked the style and adapted it for ‘Lolita’ to make it authentic,” Tom explained.
How such a work is born
The creative process is by no means simple, as some might think, just because of the use of artificial intelligence. According to Tom, one video takes up to two weeks of work, and he combines AI tools with classical editing methods. He manually constructs frames and then integrates them into a coherent visual flow.
“It’s a mix of artificial intelligence and classical music. I work on several videos in parallel, shooting, editing, adjusting. Technology has allowed me to bring my ideas to life,” says Tom.
He is convinced that Lolita will continue to move in the same musical direction that has already gained popularity with the public. His passion for music is old, and artificial intelligence has finally given him the opportunity to express it without barriers: “Technology has democratized the process. I can now translate thoughts into reality.”
Will there be concerts with Lolita?
The creator confirms that the idea of concerts is already being discussed.
“We have been planning it since the beginning of the project. The desire is there, but we’ll see how things develop,” he says.
