
According to the FSB version, the man was planning to carry out a mission “directed against the security of Russia”.
The FSB reported that the Russian citizen arrived in Moscow in December 2025. One of the goals was to collect and transmit information about the Russian opposition. His means of communication were seized, in which they found correspondence with a member of the Moldovan intelligence service.
A criminal case was opened under Article 275.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (cooperation with a foreign state or a foreign organization; punishment – up to 8 years of imprisonment). The man was arrested and “confesses”, the FSB press release specifies.
In a video from the interrogation, the figure stated that “he had to give his consent” to cooperate with Moldovan intelligence. He said that he met with the republic’s intelligence officer Mihail Patrascu “about once every one and a half to two months”.
“Our cooperation with Mr. Patrascu was of an interval nature. About once every one and a half to two months we had meetings and communication, answers to various kinds of questions,” the detainee said in the FSB video.
