Palanca customs officers subjected to specialized inspection a YUTONG bus, traveling from Ukraine to Moldova, with 36 passengers on board, and found ingots of yellow metal.
Both driver and passengers stated that they were transporting only personal goods, which did not require written declaration. Based on a risk analysis, a detailed inspection of the vehicle and luggage was ordered using the scanning equipment available to Customs. The inspection was carried out jointly with the participation of Ukrainian border guards and customs authorities.
During the search, suspicions arose with regard to one of the suitcases. During the physical inspection, 6 gold bars of various sizes with the inscription “FINE GOLD” were found among the items of clothing.
The goods belonged to a 48-year-old citizen of Ukraine. The ingots were seized and sent for examination, the results of which will be used to make the appropriate legal decision.
