Thus, according to the Tax Code, the amount of excise tax on gasoline is 9456.12 lei per t. – 7% more than last year. The excise duty rate for diesel fuel is set at 3978.95 lei per ton in 2026. Thus, the excise tax on gasoline was raised by 578 lei per ton, and on diesel fuel by 243 lei per ton. This will lead to the fact that over the next two weeks, gasoline will rise in price by 56 bani per liter and diesel fuel by 26 bani per liter.
For liquefied gas, the excise duty rate will remain unchanged at 4,144 lei per ton.
Besides excise taxes, ANRE increased the specific trade markup on fuel. This will add another 4 bani per liter to the final price. Starting from 2026, the energy efficiency contribution will increase, which will raise the price tag by 8 bani per liter of diesel and by 7 bani per liter of gasoline.
According to ANRE, these costs will be gradually incorporated into the price of fuel over the next two weeks and will already be felt on the first weekend of the new year.
