Eight medals – “trophies” of Moldovan weightlifters

Alexandrina Ciubotaru shone in the competitions in the weight category up to 77 kg. She won two small bronze medals, lifting 101 kg in the snatch and 126 kg in the deadlift. Her final result of 227 kg allowed her to take fourth place. She was two kilograms short of the third place and the big bronze medal. The world champion was Jeanette Jlisoini from Finland with a result of 244 kg.

Adriana Konak won a small bronze medal in the weight category up to 69 kg. In the snatch she won the bar weighing 92 kg. The young Moldovan weightlifter failed to consolidate her success, lifting a bar weighing 109 kg in the snatch. In this exercise she took the 10th place. The total result of 201 kg allowed her to take the final seventh place. The champion was Martina Dolega from Poland, who lifted a total of 220 kg.

Stanislav Uzha took the final third place in the competition of athletes weighing over 110 kg. In individual exercises he was fourth, lifting 165 kg in snatch and 203 kg in deadlift. Due to the instability of the results of his rivals allowed the Moldovan athlete with the result of 368 kg to win the big bronze medal. The winner was the representative of Russia Georgy Myand (386 kg), who performed under a neutral flag.

Logos Press previously reported that Ion Badanev and Dan Betka won four medals. Badanev won the big silver and small bronze medals, while Betka won the big and small bronze medals.

The Moldovan women’s junior national team with three medals in the team standings took the final 12th place among the 29 participating countries. At the top of the list were weightlifters from Turkey, Armenia and Finland.

Young Moldovan weightlifters, who won five medals, took the eighth place among the representatives of 33 countries. The men’s teams from Georgia, Turkey and Armenia topped the team medal standings.

European Championship in weightlifting among athletes under 20 years old was held in Durres (Albania). More than 240 athletes from 35 countries competed for 48 sets of medals. Moldova was represented by 11 weightlifters – five girls and six boys.
