In September, the volume of cash inflows to banks did not reach the level of August (17 billion lei), having equaled the level of July (16.7 billion lei), Logos Press reported.

The banks didn’t make the cash register

According to bank reports, since the beginning of the year, the dynamics of the volume of cash transactions far exceeded last year’s, showing an upward trend with small “dips” in February and in September 2025.

In January-September 2025, the volume of accumulated cash withdrawals from banks’ cash offices exceeded the volume of cash receipts into the banking system. Cash receipts amounted to 136,864.6 million lei, while the volume of cumulative cash withdrawals amounted to 140,481.7 million lei.

Proceeds from the sale of consumer goods (regardless of the sales channel) remain the most reliable source of banks’ money supply. During the nine months, it amounted to 79,866.5 million lei (58.4% of the total revenue), increasing by 3,712.8 million lei (+4.9%).

The volume of money receipts on current accounts and deposit accounts of individuals amounted to 13,587.4 million lei, increasing by 1,996.1 million lei (+17.2%). At the same time, the change in the volume of total receipts was also influenced by the growth of other receipts (from the sale of real estate, from entertainment events, from the sale of securities, etc.), which amounted to 18,827.1 million lei, increasing by 1,171.2 million lei (+6.6%).
