This was stated by the press secretary of the Cabinet of Ministers, Daniel Voda, who said that the blocking under the pretext of some violations became known the night before from the Russian mass media. However, the Moldovan government did not receive an official notification about this decision.
Daniel Voda emphasized that too often Moldovan products have been used by the Russian authorities as an instrument of political blackmail. He recalled that when the Russian side was not satisfied with something, Rosselkhoznadzor crushed Moldovan apples with bulldozers.
The spokesman said that Moldovan apples are grown according to all norms, exported to dozens of countries and valued in the European Union, the Middle East and other markets where quality matters.
The Cabinet of Ministers urges farmers and exporters to report cases of abuse, promising that the competent authorities will look for markets where Moldovan apples will be respected and not humiliated.
“Moldovan apple remains a quality and dignified product, as do the people who grow it. We invite all compatriots to buy this product and enjoy its taste,” the spokesman said.
According to Russian media reports, Rosselkhoznadzor specialists did not let through 20.5 tons of apples from Moldova at the border of Russia’s Pskov region, citing inconsistencies in the accompanying documents, discrepancies between the information on the marking labels and the phytosanitary certificate. It was noted that, in particular, information about the producer of products in the documents did not coincide. And this was the reason for recognizing the certificate invalid. In accordance with quarantine phytosanitary requirements, the entire batch of apples was prohibited for importation into the territory of the Russian Federation.
