It will include scanning of travel documents, collection of biometric data (photo and fingerprints) and creation of an individual electronic dossier. This procedure is applied in accordance with the Entry-Exit System (EES) designed to record data on non-EU third-country nationals.

The EES system is one of the measures applied by the EU to improve and digitalize the procedure for third-country nationals crossing the Schengen border, according to the website of the Border Police of Moldova.

Children under 12 years old and persons whose fingerprinting is physically impossible are exempted from the fingerprinting procedure. The agency specifies that the new EES rules apply to Moldovan citizens traveling on the basis of Moldovan biometric passport. Citizens who have citizenship of one of the Schengen countries and visit the EU on the basis of a document of this state are not subject to the EES system and will not undergo additional control.

RPM specialists recommend citizens to familiarize themselves with the new requirements in order to avoid possible delays or misunderstandings on the official website of the EU (https://travel-europe.europa.eu/ro/ees).
