Moldova on 85th place in the ranking of economic freedom

Moldova was ranked 85th among 165 countries in the ranking "Economic Freedom in the World 2025", published on September 25 by Fraser Institute jointly with the Bendukidze Center, - Logos Press reports.

Moldova on 85th place in the ranking of economic freedom

Compared to last year, the country has risen slightly in the ranking – in 2024, it was in 89th position. However, it remains in the third group of “relatively economically free states”.

Romania is ranked 50th in this year’s ranking, down from last year’s 43rd place. Ukraine is number 143 (+7 positions) in the list of economically unfree states. Russia is in 148th place, having fallen from 119th location.

This year’s ranking is headed (in descending order) by Hong Kong, Singapore, New Zealand, Switzerland and the United States.

Its compilers take into account five key indicators: the size of government, rule of law and protection of property, currency stability, freedom of international trade and regulation of business and labor market.

Data for 2023 was used to compile the 2025 ranking, while for last year’s list it was 2022.
