Information on the presence of diseases incompatible with driving will be sent to the State Automobile Inspectorate through a unified database of the Ministry of Health of Russia, specifies RBC. All polyclinics enter information about patients there after each visit to the doctor.
These changes are contained in amendments to the federal laws “On Road Safety” and “On Personal Data”, which were proposed back in 2022, but were finally adopted by the State Duma this summer.
The amendments stipulate that upon official confirmation of a diagnosis contraindicated for driving, a driver’s license may be temporarily withdrawn. Within a month, their owner must undergo a course of treatment and rehabilitation, and in case of recovery, the license will be returned to him.
At the same time, since September 1, the list of diseases, in the presence of which it is forbidden to drive, has been updated. In it, general disorders of psychological development, including autism, Rett and Asperger’s syndromes, as well as eye diseases were added to mental disorders – achromatopsia was replaced by anomalies of color vision.
Previously, drivers in Russia were required to undergo a medical examination to confirm their right to drive once every ten years. Now the identification of medical contraindications will take place on a permanent basis.
