Before coming to Moldova, Kronaero operated for 2.5 years in Romania’s Brasov-Gimbav airport, providing services to only one airline – Wizz Air (8 flights per day), which became the basis for its Moldovan expansion. In Chisinau, the Romanian operator serves 36-37 flights per day operated by Wizz Air and FlyOne. It provides passenger boarding and disembarkation, baggage transportation, aircraft maintenance and cleaning.

Kronaero owner Ciprian-Michael Oprescu told reporters that the first investments were made in equipment, new gangways, buses and hiring employees. The next tranche involves the investment of another 4 million euros. The payback period is estimated at up to 8 years, depending on the growth of passenger traffic.

Ciprian-Michael Oprescu emphasized that the investment was provided by his family, which is connected with the aviation business. Thus, the entrepreneur’s father owns Mountain Industrial Resources, which produces specialized aviation and airfield equipment.

“In Moldova, the origin of capital is subject to strict verification, and all investments in Kronaero have a transparent structure,” Mr. Oprescu said. – This money comes exclusively from family sources”.

Kronaero now employs more than 200 people, with 60 more expected to be hired in the near future. Taking into account that about 100 flights are operated daily at Chisinau Airport, Kronaero’s share in the Handling segment is estimated at about 35%.

In addition to the Romanian operator, two other companies provide handling services at Chisinau Airport – Airport Handling and MGH Ground Handling.

“We assume that the positive dynamics of passenger traffic growth at Chisinau Airport (in 2025 the growth is forecasted by 1 million – up to 5 million passengers) creates opportunities for the development of all players in the ground handling market. At the same time, the company prefers to follow the path of gradual expansion, with investments of 10 million euros”.

It should be noted that Kronaero is the youngest player on the market. It was registered in Moldova in October 2024, and in July 2025 it received official authorization from the Moldovan Civil Aviation Authority.
