In the deciding match, which lasted two hours and 20 minutes, the 23-year-old Snitsar won in three sets 6-2, 2-6, 6-4. Thus, he prevented the 19-year-old Romanian opponent from winning his first career trophy in the adult category. In turn, for the Moldovan tennis player, who rose to 719th place in the world ranking, the trophy in Slobozia became the fourth in his career: in 2022 he won the M15 tournaments in Constanta (Romania) and Antalya (Turkey), and last year – in Târgu Giu (Romania).

In the course of the tournament in Slobozia, Snitsar knocked out Romanian tennis players Alexandru Mihai Coman (6:0, 6:1), Vlad Cristian Briaza (6:3, 6:2), defeated Ukrainian Timur Beldiugin (6:2, 6:2) in the 1/4 finals, and in the semifinals – the representative of Great Britain Jeremy Gschwendtner (6:4, 7:6 / 7:4 on tie-break).

The prize fund of the M15 tournament amounted to $15 thousand. Winning the trophy in Slobozia allowed Ilya Snitsar to earn $2.160 and 15 points in the ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) ranking.

Snitsar’s career-best result was on April 17, 2023, when he climbed to No. 332 in the world rankings. The athlete is regularly called up to the Moldovan national team to participate in the Davis Cup.
