The wards of Srdjan Lazarevic and Miroslav Baicev won all three matches of the tournament. In the first match the national team of Moldova with the score 17:11 defeated CS “Imperial Sport” (Chisinau). Moldovan water polo players played two matches with the Czech national team, in which they won both times (17:5, 23:4). In the match against Bulgaria, the Moldovan team players also won (16:6).
The first place according to the results of the “Federation Cup” was taken by the youth national team of Moldova. The water polo players from the Czech Republic became silver medalists, while the Bulgarian athletes won bronze medals. The best forward of the tournament was recognized the player of the national team of Moldova Timur Kolesnichenko, the best defender – Alexander Levitsky.
The Moldovan national team played at the Fed Cup in the following composition: Traian Sandu, Pavel Coliban, Alexandru Levitski, Roman Piterski, Dragos Cotelnic, Egor Sinkovski, Vladimir Koloskov, Ivan Nedelchev, Tiur Kolesnichenko, Egor Mihailă, Bogdan Zaharia, Andrei Kuzmin, Teodor Sutkevici, Dragos Mihalaki, Daniel Lepeshkin, Roman Timofeev, Mihail Scurtu, Kirill Talmasan, Egor Baichev and Alexandru Leurda. The head coach of the Moldovan national water polo team is Srdjan Lazarevic and the coach is Miroslav Baichev.
“Federation Cup” is a preparatory tournament for the European Junior Water Polo Championship (U-18) among the national teams of the first division, which will be held from August 18 to 24 in Rio Mayor (Portugal).
