"Sheriff" and "Milsami" - are the main rivals this season
In the return match of the 1/2 finals of the Moldovan Cup, Sheriff defeated Zimbru with a minimum score of 1:0. In the first match, the Wasps also defeated the Bisons and on the aggregate of the two matches (3:1) secured their participation in the decisive match of the tournament. The defeat will not allow Zimbru to repeat the result of last year, when it reached the final, but lost to Petrocub (Hincesti) with the score 1:3.
The club “Spartanii-Sportul” after losing the first match with the score 0:5 had little chance to reach the final. Despite this, the team managed to show a productive game in the match against Milsami. By the 20th minute, the club from Orhei led 0:2 after scorer Radu Ginsari and midfielder Alexander Antoniuc scored. Before the break, 19-year-old Spartanii-Sportul defender Nicolae Rotaru converted a penalty and reduced the deficit to 1:2.
A few minutes after the start of the second half, Milsami’s Nigerian international Michael Gopi Stephen struck Andrew Owusu’s goal. However, the club from Selemet Village had the last word as they reached the semi-finals of the cup tournament for the first time. Two young players of Spartanii-Sportul – 17-year-old Leonard Bulmaga and 19-year-old Fabian Pegza, who equalized the score in the 82nd minute (3:3).
“Milsami” with a score of 8:3 at the end of two matches reached the final, in which on May 24 will play with “Sheriff”. The decisive match of the Cup of Moldova will actually be a home match for “Wasps”, as the decision of the Football Federation will be held in Tiraspol.
“Sheriff” is a 12-time Cup winner, having won its previous trophy in 2023. “Milsami” has only won the tournament twice – in 2012 and 2018.
