Sekrieru became vice-champion of the European Weightlifting Championships in the weight category up to 55 kg. He lifted a total weight of 245 kg (110 kg in snatch + 135 kg in jerk). In the snatch he showed the 3rd result and won the small bronze medal. The second result in the jerk allowed the 17-year-old athlete from Ungheni to win a small silver medal, in addition to the main one.
The Moldovan weightlifter lost only 1 kg to Angel Rusev (Bulgaria), who lifted a total weight of 246 kg. The bronze medal was won by Ramini Shamilishvili (Georgia), who lifted a total weight of 243 kg. Yulian Betka, who competed in the same weight category, took the final 10th place with a total of 227 kg.
In the weight category up to 61 kg, another representative of the national team of Moldova, Ion Badanev, took the 3rd place in the jerk and won a small bronze medal. In this exercise, the 19-year-old weightlifter lifted 152 kg. He took the 4th place in the overall standings with 275 kg.
European champion Ivan Dimov from Bulgaria (154 kg) and vice-champion Goverji Berdelidze from Georgia (153 kg) completed the small podium. Daniel Lungu, represented in the same weight category, took 7th place with a total weight of 264 kg.
The European Weightlifting Championships take place at Arena Chișinău from April 13 to 21.
