The purpose of the Fund is to financially support initiatives that contribute to the diversification and development of the local and regional media space. The competition is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Research.

The support mechanism for Moldovan media is stipulated in Law No. 50/2024 “On the Media Subsidy Fund” and is aimed at supporting media projects that reflect the development priorities of Moldovan society.

Among these key objectives are the promotion of Moldova’s image, strengthening national values, supporting local culture, environmental protection and sports development. In addition, provision is made for investigative journalism, strengthening the editorial and economic independence of media outlets through continuous professional training and mentoring programs, and developing media literacy.

The organizers of the contest consider important such criterion as encouraging the creation of media products in the languages of national minorities, promoting inclusiveness and social cohesion. Applications are accepted until May 14. The contest materials will be reviewed by the Expert Council within a period of no more than one month from the deadline for submission of materials.

The total subsidization budget for 2025 is 15 million lei, which will enable media institutions to implement innovative projects that have a real impact on communities and contribute to the development of a pluralistic, professional and sustainable media environment.
