According to the National Center for Sustainable Energy (CNED) and the Public Services Agency, the share of eco-vehicles has reached 6.3% of all registered vehicles.
In the period from 2018-2024, 5.8 thousand electric vehicles were registered in Moldova, of which 4.3 thousand belong to individuals, the rest – to legal entities. In the segment of hybrid cars (including plug-in hybrid), 51.5 thousand units were registered, of which 45.2 are owned by individuals and 6.2 by legal entities.
Of the total number of registered vehicles, 90% are hybrids and 10% are electric.
The dynamics of eco-vehicle registration peaked in 2024. Last year was a record year – plus 21 thousand electric cars. This is two and a half times more compared to 2023, when this indicator amounted to 8.7 thousand units.
