Officials from the National Anti-Corruption Center (CNA), in conjunction with prosecutors from the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (PA), today detained the head of a department at the Agency for Agricultural Interventions and Payments (AIPA) in connection with a criminal case initiated on charges of influence peddling.
According to preliminary information, the department head allegedly demanded and received a total of 130,000 lei from a representative of a business entity, claiming that he would influence members of the AIPA committee and be able to persuade them to make a favorable decision regarding the approval of the application and the granting of the requested subsidy.
As a result of special investigative measures, the transfer of funds by the suspect to third parties was documented, and during subsequent searches, funds totaling 2.5 million lei were discovered and seized.
The suspect has been detained for 72 hours and placed in the CNA detention center. The criminal investigation is ongoing with the aim of identifying all individuals involved and documenting all the circumstances of the case.
