Twelve perinatal centers across the country were equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment. In addition, nine facilities received specialized ambulances for transporting newborns, and approximately 200 gynecological clinics in the primary health care system were equipped with the necessary equipment.
Representatives of UNFPA and the Moldovan Ministry of Health discussed continuing cooperation and new areas of collaboration during a meeting between Minister Alexandru Gasnash and UNFPA representative Karina Nersesyan.
The parties noted that the key areas for further cooperation will include the development of health services for women and children, strengthening perinatal care, promoting reproductive health, and further investments in the health care system’s infrastructure.
“Every investment in a maternity ward, a medical clinic, or the training of a specialist means greater safety for the mother and her child. It is precisely this kind of partnership that the Ministry of Health seeks to continue developing together with UNFPA,” said Health Minister Alexandru Gasnaș.
