According to the organizers, holding expert discussions with international and local specialists will help harmonize fiscal, tax, and monetary policies. The goal is to ensure price stability and exchange rate predictability amid accelerated integration.
The conference, which will take place on October 1–2 in a hybrid format with the participation of Romanian and French experts, aims to examine the challenges faced by candidate countries.
“Accelerated European integration reduces the time available for policy convergence. In our case, we are accomplishing in a few years what took others a decade to achieve. … Investments of this scale occur only where price stability and economic predictability have been demonstrated over the long term. “This conference serves as a platform for discussing best practices in the context of our region,” emphasized NBM Vice President Mihnea Constantinescu.
In this regard, topics such as the monetary policy framework during the transition period prior to EU accession, integration into the single market, and structural convergence will be discussed, and the balance between reform requirements and the need for countercyclical fiscal policy in the face of external shocks.
